SMTP authentication is essential for securing your outgoing email and ensuring it is delivered successfully. Most modern email clients support SMTP authentication, and it’s a necessary step for sending emails via mail.obrienmedia.co.uk.

SMTP authentication (or SMTP AUTH) is a process that email clients use to log in to an SMTP server before sending emails. It helps to prevent unauthorised use of the mail server and reduces the risk of your emails being flagged as spam.

• Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): mail.obrienmedia.co.uk
• Port: 587 (STARTTLS) or 465 (SSL/TLS)
• Authentication: Required
• Username: Your full email address
• Password: Your email account password

The steps vary slightly depending on the email client you are using. Here’s how to do it in the most common ones:

1. Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
2. Select your email account and click Change.
3. Click on More Settings.
4. Go to the Outgoing Server tab.
5. Tick My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
6. Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
7. Click OK to save changes.

1. Go to Mail > Preferences.
2. Select the Accounts tab and choose your email account.
3. Click on Server Settings.
4. Ensure that Outgoing Mail Account (SMTP) is set to use authentication.
5. Enter your email address and password if not already saved.

3. Select the relevant SMTP server and click Edit.
4. Ensure Authentication method is set to Normal password.
5. Ensure your username is set to your full email address.

2. Scroll down and tap Mail, then tap Accounts.
3. Select your email account from the list.
4. Tap Account again on the next screen.
5. Scroll down to the Outgoing Mail Server section and tap SMTP.
6. Tap mail.obrienmedia.co.uk under Primary Server.
7. Ensure the following settings are configured:
   • Server: ON
   • Host Name: mail.obrienmedia.co.uk
   • User Name: Your full email address
   • Password: Your email account password
   • Use SSL: ON
   • Authentication: Password
   • Server Port: 465 (SSL) or 587 (STARTTLS)
8. Tap Done in the top right to save your changes.
